Cheese Paratha

Cheesy Yumminess!! A favorite to kids and adults alike!! Fry up these tasty treats for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Use your creativity to alter the taste by adding spices and herbs of your choice.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour, additional for dusting
  • Grated cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Carom seeds (ajwain)
  • Herbs/Spices of your choice (I have used ground black pepper here)
  • Water for making dough
  • Oil for frying parathas

Steps

The first step is to make the dough for the parathas. Start by mixing flour, a pinch of salt, carom seeds and water, form a dough similar in consistency to a pizza dough, it should be on the stiffer side and not too sticky. Cover with a little oil and let rest for about 10 mins.

Divide the dough into equal parts. Roll each section to about 3 inches in diameter with a rolling pin.

Fill with cheese and herbs/spices. Fold in the sides to create a small ball.

Dust with flour and roll again to about 6 inches in diameter. Make sure to roll with even thickness for proper cooking.

Heat a pan on medium heat, and place the rolled paratha on it. Roast until brown spots appear on one side. Flip and spread oil on the paratha. Flip again and fry until golden brown on both sides.

Serve with your favorite dip, pickle, yogurt or curry!
