Try this interesting (Indian) twist to the basic french toast recipe. Milk masala is essentially a ready to use powdered blend of spices such as saffron, cardamom, and nuts like almonds, pistachios etc. It’s almost like having dessert for breakfast!
This recipe is also eggless, and can be easily turned into vegan by substituting regular milk with your choice of dairy-free milk, and replacing butter with coconut oil.
Ingredients
- 2 Bread slices (I have used whole wheat bread)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp vanilla essence
- 2 tbsp milk masala (I have used Everest milk masala easily available at any Indian grocery store)
- 2 tbsp almond flour (you could use all purpose flour or corn flour too)
- 1 tbsp butter
Steps
Start by mixing sugar, salt, vanilla essence and milk masala in a bowl.
Add in almond flour and mix well.
Slowly stir in milk and make sure no lumps are formed.
Now gently dip a slice of bread into the milk mixture and coat both sides.
Melt some butter on a non-stick pan, and cook the coated bread slices until golden brown on both sides.
Enjoy!
