Basic French Toast

   

Perfect healthy breakfast for a weekend! Warm sweet soft crunchy and oh so satisfying… This melt in your mouth recipe is very easy to put together with basic ingredients found in any household. Also check out other varieties and variations on the basic recipe here.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 2 slices of bread (works great with challah or any thick and dense bread)
  • Dash of milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Few drop of vanilla essence
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Honey, mixed fruits and nuts for topping
  • 1 tbsp butter

Steps

Start by whipping the egg with sugar, salt, cinnamon and vanilla essence. Add a dash of milk and mix vigorously. We just want enough mixture to coat our bread slices.

Heat a non stick pan and spread butter.  Keep on low to medium heat.

Slice bread into triangles. Dip each piece into the egg mixture and coat on all sides.

Place the coated bread on the hot pan. Cook until golden brown on both sides.

Top with honey and your choice of mixed fruits and nuts. Enjoy!
