Give Thanks

Often it is said that a great way of appreciating what you have is by comparing yourself with the less fortunate. I am not sure if this comparison principle really works in all cases and situations, because hey, everyone thinks their problems are the biggest in the world (at least for the moment). As much as you may find it difficult to relate to this every time you face an issue in your life, I challenge you to try something different next time – GIVE. Somehow all your problems will seem much smaller than the numerous issues some people have to face every single day in their lives.

It may seem cliche to some, but sharing a bit of what you have (in both monetary and non-monetary form) gives an immense sense of peace, satisfaction and a feeling of having made a difference in someone’s life. That is a huge benefit you have over millions who cannot afford to do this. So have a big heart, go ahead and do something to help a person in need. Let it be a donation towards a charity, sponsoring a child’s education or volunteering for those in need. Trust me, this is one of the best ways to show gratitude!

In case you were looking for ideas on how to go about GivingThanks-

  • There are tons of non-profits out there who could really use your help. I often like to associate with anything for children (food, education etc.) Check out- http://www.feedthechildren.org
  • Volunteering is a great way to show care and kindness. Sign up for your local town/city volunteer agencies and you can pick and choose an activity on specific days times which you can easily fit into your busy schedules
  • Instead of putting your leftovers in trash, next time why not give it to the homeless on the street you pass by during your commute
